The President of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, accompanied King Felipe VI, the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, at the inauguration of the 50-kilometre section between La Robla-Pola de Lena (Pajares Bypass) of the Madrid-Asturias High-Speed Line.

Ineco has been involved in the development of the Bypass since the first feasibility studies. Among the numerous works carried out by the company, it is worth highlighting, among others, the informative study, the basic project, assistance in the management and supervision of the projects, the drafting of the complementary works and waterproofing projects, the preparation of fire resistance studies and the drafting of the construction projects for the emergency exits in the Pico de Siero and Vega del Ciego tunnels. A major engineering project in which more than 200 of the company's professionals have done their bit in different phases of the project, contributing their experience and knowledge to make it a reality. During the execution phase, the company has also been in charge of tasks such as assistance and control of platform works, track assembly, supplies or technical assistance for the control of works on interlocking installations, train protection systems and telecommunications, on-site traffic control and commissioning, among other functions.

The Pajares Bypass is 49 kilometres long and includes, in addition to the construction of the two main Pajares tunnels between Pola de Gordón (León) and Telledo (Asturias), the outer sections towards La Robla and Pola de Lena. Traffic through the Pajares Bypass will be managed remotely and in real time from the León Traffic Regulation Centre (CRC): one of the more than twenty distributed throughout the Spanish network in which Ineco is also present. The Pajares Tunnels, with a length of 25 kilometres, are the seventh longest railway tunnels in Europe, and together with the Pontones Tunnel, which is 6 km long, stand out among the 10 tunnels and 10 viaducts that form part of the Bypass.

Thanks to this great infrastructure work, in the first phase, the journey from Madrid to Oviedo will take between 3 hours 39 minutes and 3 hours 58 minutes, depending on the number of stops, although it is expected to be cut to 2 hours 43 minutes with the arrival of the new Avril trains, compared to the 4 hours 28 minutes that this route currently takes.
