Sergio Vázquez, president of Ineco, and Sergio Díaz-Granados, the executive president of CAF, signed this agreement.
The engineering and consultancy firm of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Ineco, and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, CAF, have signed a memorandum of understanding with the aim of establishing a collaboration framework to promote the development and competitiveness of the transport sector between Europe and Latin America.
This agreement seeks to promote various areas of interest between the two institutions, with special emphasis on the railway sector and the impact of climate change on transport infrastructure.
Within the framework of this memorandum, Ineco and CAF will be able to collaborate in initiatives such as the generation of spaces for knowledge sharing, exchange of lessons learned and best practices, support from specialists, joint organisation of workshops and events, among others.
"We are at a turning point where we need to rethink our transport strategies and adapt to the emerging challenges of our time, such as climate change, population growth and urbanisation. This memorandum lays the foundation for a strategic partnership between two leading institutions in the development of sustainable and digital transport infrastructure. We are convinced that the exchange of knowledge and experience between CAF and Ineco will translate into innovative projects that will contribute to the integration and well-being of Latin America and Europe," said CAF's executive president, Sergio Díaz-Granados.
For his part, the president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, emphasised that "it is an honour for the company to strengthen alliances with the regions with which we have been linked since our origins more than 55 years ago. We have a lot to contribute to each other and I am sure that this collaboration will lead to fruitful progress towards better mobility for people and planet".
The memorandum will allow Ineco and CAF to jointly design and implement studies, projects and technical cooperation activities to promote innovation and the exchange of good practices in the transport sector, with an emphasis on railway infrastructure and adaptation to climate change.
