The president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, together with Benito Núñez, general secretary of Air and Maritime Transport, and Víctor Gordo, expert in CNS - ATM Systems.
Ineco hosted the first round table on vertiports organised by SIAM (Spain Innovative Air Mobility), which kicked off the actions of the innovative air mobility cluster to boost and foster relations between all the agents involved in the aeronautical sector. More than 60 companies took part in this event, the first of the five planned vertiport roundtables, with which SIAM seeks to establish a dialogue on the requirements and circumstances of this ecosystem. A cycle that will allow the sharing of experiences and uncertainties in the sector and thus make innovative air mobility a sustainable reality in Spain.
Urban air mobility is the new air transport system that is making headway in the market as a safe, efficient and sustainable means of transport for passengers and freight in urban environments, enabled by new technologies and integrated into multimodal transport systems. Airports are a solution to the need to reduce transport times, decongest urban centres and bring rural areas closer together. Moreover, this type of transport is estimated to be a faster solution in the future, saving between 15 and 40 minutes on average on a standard journey in the city, and more than 70% of the time in medical or goods deliveries, according to data from the EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency). They will also mean cleaner mobility, with electrically powered vehicles with no local carbon dioxide emissions.
The president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón - vice-president of SIAM - was in charge of opening this first round table of a series of five meetings that the SIAM cluster has set up with the aim of establishing a dialogue on the set of requirements and circumstances of the ecosystem of innovative air mobility in the field of airports. Vázquez Torrón emphasised that "in the era of strategic autonomy, a complicit relationship between the public and private sectors is necessary to strengthen Europe's technological position".
The president of SIAM, Isabel Buatas - president of Expodrónica - pointed out that "SIAM is a global project that should promote Spain as a leader in innovative air mobility and should be a meeting point where all the agents in the sector can move forward together".
For his part, Benito Núñez, Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport, closed this first round table of vertiports, pointing out that: "from the public administrations we must work to guarantee the safety of people and facilitate the development of this sector, which is called to extend the limits of aviation and introduce greater efficiency in economic activity and reduce the environmental impact of air operations".
About SIAM
The non-profit association, Clúster SIAM aims to facilitate the entry of innovation into the market, through collaboration in the creation of new disruptive business models in the field of innovative air mobility. The Association is composed of ITG, Expodrónica and Ineco as founding partners, together with NTT Data and Pinsent Masons as constituent companies. SIAM aims to manage, promote, defend, coordinate and represent the common interests of its members, as well as to increase their competitiveness and the existing opportunities in the sectors related to the field of air mobility, promoting the development of the necessary technology and associated infrastructure.
