These studies aim to complement the railway access to the Outer Harbour, whose works are directed by Ineco and in which Adif is investing 123.6 million Euro from the Recovery Plan, in order to increase the competitiveness of rail freight transport and enhance the port's value.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has commissioned Ineco to draw up the informative studies for the new southern access branch to the outer port of A Coruña at Punta Langosteira and for a new goods terminal at Uxes.
This project will analyse how to improve the connection of the port access branch, currently under construction, to complement and improve the rail connectivity of the infrastructure and will simplify the rail connection and operation between the port and the trains running on the Atlantic Corridor. It will also provide a new terminal with sufficient capacity to service the traffic currently received by the A Coruña - San Diego freight terminal, located next to the city's inner harbour.
These studies aim to complement the railway access to the Outer Harbour, whose works are directed by Ineco and in which Adif is investing 123.6 million Euro from the Recovery Plan, in order to increase the competitiveness of rail freight transport and enhance the port's value.
These action are in line with the objectives of the Sustainable, Safe and Connected Mobility Strategy 2030, aimed at improving social cohesion, economic growth and solving real mobility problems. They also contribute to decarbonising the economy, while increasing the competitiveness and logistics efficiency of the transport chain.
