Morocco has selected the consortium formed by Ineco and CID to carry out the feasibility studies and preliminary project for the urban railway service connecting Tangier and Tetouan.

Thanks to these works, Tangier will connect the city centre with the football stadium and the airport. A feasibility study will also be carried out for a new railway line to link the city with Tetouan. The project includes four key actions, which together represent over 85 kilometers of new railway track aimed at increasing the capacity for passenger circulation in medium-distance segments.

The Ineco team, based on the work carried out both in Spain and in other countries, has developed extensive know-how in the analysis of rail transport needs, which enables it to identify the ideal technologies for each environment, as well as to propose the economically viable solution and the ideal temporal approach for its implementation.

Morocco, great opportunities

This project is part of Morocco's Railway Strategy 2040, a comprehensive long-term plan for the development of the national railway network and its various components, taking into account the analysis of future transport needs. Built around interconnected hubs thanks to transport corridors using high-speed trains, regional trains and shuttles, the "PRM" will ensure the development of a dense network throughout the country and will decisively contribute to territorial development policies."

In the words of Ineco's president, Sergio Vázquez Torrón: 'This contract is our first railway project in Morocco and consolidates our presence in the country, where we already carry out work in the airport sector. This is an important step that we hope will continue to open up opportunities for the Spanish railway industry'. This project is the largest contract in the company's history in Morocco and opens the door to collaboration with the CID.

Recently, the Moroccan National Airports Office (ONDA) selected Ineco to draw up a Development Programme for the aeronautical and terminal infrastructures of the Mohamed V International Airport of Casablanca, which identifies the current problems and defines the dimensioning and design of the infrastructures required to handle traffic in the future.
