This methodology emerged from an internal R&D project that received the prestigious CANSO "Global Safety Achievement Award 2019" at the end of 2019.
The European Space Agency (ESA) has awarded a contract to Ineco for the application of its proprietary Methodology for the Integration of the Human Factor aiming at enhancing the design, development and implementation processes for improving the Galileo infrastructure following a human-centered approach.
Developed by Ineco, this method recognizes the substantial role played by the human factor, accounting for 80% of accidents and failures according to safety studies. It encompasses a wide range of elements, including roles, responsibilities, procedures, equipment, tools, and the working environment.
By accumulating knowledge about operational scenarios, the methodology enables a comprehensive assessment of how human performance impacts safety and efficiency. This underscores the ongoing significance of studying human behavior in relation to safety, particularly in an era characterized by the growing prevalence of automation.
Through its collaboration with the ESA, Ineco will analyze some operational scenarios of the European Global Navigation Satellite System Galileo. The implementation of Ineco's human factor methodology in these scenarios will enable the proposal of detailed measures aimed at mitigating risks associated with human performance. Additionally, it will contribute to improving the safety and operability of the Galileo infrastructure.
