Ineco expert Víctor Gordo has been awarded by the US association RTCA (Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics) for his contribution to the development of standards for the manufacture and deployment of anti-drone systems, especially in airport environments.

During 2022 and mainly 2023, Ineco experts (Víctor Gordo, but also Ángela Abad and Carlos Barbas) have been working on a new EUROCAE ED-322/ DO-403 "System Performance and Interoperability Requirements for Non Cooperative UAS Detection Systems" standard for anti-drone systems. This standard, which has been developed mainly with European contributions, has been generated together with RTCA.

RTCA has decided to reward the significant contribution of the main experts involved in this document with an award given this Thursday at RTCA headquarters during the ceremony that took place at the end of the RTCA Program Management Committee.

Innovative Aerial Mobility will provide great advantages to society and, for this reason, Ineco is working to discover its full potential and has incorporated the use of drones as another tool for the development of our projects. However, the reckless and even malicious use of drones poses a risk to society, which needs to be identified and controlled in order to maximise the benefits of this technology while mitigating its potential adverse effects. It is therefore necessary to develop secure methods to detect the presence of drones in high-risk environments such as airports in order to prevent threats.

In addition, the engineering and public consultancy is involved in its regulation in Spain and in the development of the U-Space system in Europe, which has led it to become one of the founding members of SIAM, the first national cluster dedicated to promoting and boosting this sector.

RTCA Association

The RTCA is an American non-profit aviation standardisation organisation founded in 1935. This organisation, made up of the major companies in the aviation industry, is responsible for specifying the technical requirements for major aircraft components and aviation systems, which serve as the basis for certification by aviation authorities (such as the Federal Aviation Administration, FAA).

In many standards, RTCA works together with its European counterpart, EUROCAE, of which Ineco is a member. Through its annual awards, this commission recognises the relevant contributions of experts in the sector in the different working groups it organises.
