Ineco has taken a new step this Monday in its commitment to innovation and young talent. The president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, together with the rector of the University of Santiago de Compostela, Antonio López, ratified the collaboration agreement to make Santiago de Compostela the first university to launch Ineco's iCampus network. An innovative programme for the promotion of scientific and technical research, knowledge transfer and interaction between experts from the scientific, technical and business communities.
The project was born with the vocation of extending to other universities where potential is detected in strategic fields for the company, as has been the case of the University of Santiago, with a campus also in Lugo. Precisely there, a team of three specialists in applied mathematics and an expert in transport engineering and infrastructure have been working for several years on an Artificial Intelligence tool to optimise the design of linear transport works, mainly roads and railway lines.
The new agreement with Ineco will allow the project team to take a qualitative leap forward in the evolution of the tool, improving the current alignment rectification module, with direct application in railway layout improvement projects.
In addition to the collaboration with the University of Santiago, Ineco has an agreement in place with other universities such as the University of Cantabria for the characterisation of the resilience of materials applied to railway infrastructure. The aim is to continue extending the iCampus network to other centres to make progress in areas such as noise in ports, light pollution, cybersecurity applications, etc.
