Ineco reinforces its commitment to inclusive AI at Mobile World Congress

March 5, 2025

Ineco has once again participated in the Mobile World Congress, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and technological inclusion, as part of the Spanish pavilion, organised by the public business entity Red.es.

In this edition, the president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, together with Nuria Lloret, Electronic Administration professor at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), presented the AI and Diversity Observatory, an initiative led by the UPV and promoted by Ineco within the framework of the innovation programme with universities, iCampus.

"We all have preconceived ideas, but the problem is when they lead to discrimination and threaten diversity" said Sergio Vázquez Torrón during the presentation. Furthermore, he stressed that "in the digital field, as in the transport infrastructure field, public initiative has to be behind. All this in combination with the private sector to improve innovation." He concluded by adding that "there is talk of a new world order, but actually, it is more of a new moral and principled order. There, Europe must be a reference and a rock. This is not a race to see who gets there first, but to see who is more solid and has deeper roots. I am optimistic about Europe's role".

The AI and Diversity Observatory seeks to identify and understand the perceptions, concerns and proposals of associations and vulnerable social groups to detect the biases that may arise in the development and application of this technology. This project is developed under the premise that AI should not only be an efficient tool, but also a positive force that benefits humanity globally, reducing the risks that may arise from its use.

Ineco recently became the first Spanish public company to join the Global Compact on Artificial Intelligence, an international initiative promoted by the European Commission to promote the ethical, sustainable and responsible development of this technology.
