Ineco participated in the main event of the 50th anniversary of the Spanish Association of Tunnels and Underground Works (AETOS). The works directors, Agustín Tejedor, Pedro Antonio Lázaro and Ismael Romero, and the Work Winning Manager, Noelia Alonso, presented various papers, together with Adif professionals, in which they highlighted Ineco's role and experience in the development of some of the main transport infrastructure works in our country.

Agustín Tejedor focused on the Santa Marina tunnel, which crosses the 550 km long Alentejo-Plasencia fault, a continental-scale tectonic fault. In his speech, he highlighted the construction of a watertight lining to preserve, in one case, and recover, in the other, the two aquifers that are in its hydrogeological area of influence.

The Atocha-Chamartín tunnel was the focus of Pedro Antonio Lázaro's presentation, who pointed out that it is the longest urban AVE ( Spanish High-Speed) tunnel in Spain with a total length of 7.3 km. A key infrastructure linking the southern and eastern lines of Spain with those of the north and northwest, and which will soon also link the north-east with the construction of the Levante-Barcelona connection.

Noelia Alonso pointed out that the construction of the Abdalajis Tunnels more than 20 years ago was a milestone in tunnel boring in Spain due to the geological complexity and the hydrogeological impact. Finally, Ismael Romero gave a presentation in which he highlighted the work carried out on access to El Prat Airport.

Under the title: "Five decades of Spanish tunnels", this event was a great opportunity to recognise the important work of professionals in the sector and to make the general public aware of the excellence of tunnel engineering in Spain.
