The expert in Digital Engineering and BIM, Laura Martín, has participated in the 20th National Congress on Geographic Information Technologies, which has been held in Palma de Mallorca.

With the slogan "GIT for the construction of Smart Territories", Laura Martín presented her paper "3D modelling techniques in GIS from open data to implement in City Information Modelling (CIM)" in which she explained what this collaborative 3D digital environment consists of, which is very similar to BIM in its methodology principles, but which focuses on city and environment scale components. CIM is conceived as a 3D GIS Geographic Information System composed of three-dimensional objects and models that provide a wealth of information, which is revolutionising the way urban territory is designed, planned and organised.

This congress is a meeting point where researchers and practitioners address new challenges and opportunities in the geospatial world, from data sensitivity and observation to data processing, visualisation and management.
