A moment during the round table
With the aim of analyzing and discussing how new technologies and trends impact on railway safety, the Carlos III University Foundation has organized the round table The future of railway safety in an interconnected world in collaboration with the State Railway Safety Agency (Agencia Estatal de Seguridad Ferroviaria).
Tatiana Rueda, Technical Manager in the area of RAM and Safety at Ineco, has been one of the invited speakers at the round table, and has addressed issues such as the opportunities that an interconnected railroad offers to operational safety, from improving the knowledge obtained from the factors that affect human performance or the acquisition of data whose advanced analysis leads to improvements in risk prevention measures. The existence of new risks introduced by these emerging trends was also discussed, such as the increasingly blurred boundary between operational security and cybersecurity.
During the round table, the fact that, although there are more and more advanced technologies (from the automation of processes to the implementation of AI tools), the person remains the central axis and should not be displaced by technology, which makes it necessary to work on a process of adaptation of training processes to prepare them for the new technological era, was highlighted.
