Óscar Puente and the president of the public engineering Transports company , Sergio Vázquez Torrón, have signed this programme together with the beneficiary associations: Asociación MUM - Mujeres Unidas contra el Maltrato, Fundación Mujeres, Asociación Eslabón and Asociación Victoria
The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, has underlined the Government's firm commitment to the fight for equality and the abolition of all forms of discrimination against people. He did so at an event that took place today in Madrid, his first at the head of this Ministry, at which the extension of Ineco's Horizonte Programme against gender violence was signed.
Óscar Puente and the president of the public engineering Transports company , Sergio Vázquez Torrón, have signed this programme together with the beneficiary associations: Asociación MUM - Mujeres Unidas contra el Maltrato, Fundación Mujeres, Asociación Eslabón and Asociación Victoria, in a ceremony that took place as part of the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
This programme, whose aim is to raise awareness of this scourge and to help women, children and orphans who suffer from it to access the labour market and education, is, in the opinion of the head of Transport, a pioneering initiative to help victims to break out of the cycle of gender-based violence. The initiative walks with the victims in their way out into the labour market, giving them opportunities and showing them that there is a world and a society to which they belong and that they have nothing to do with the nightmare they are suffering.
She also expressed his pride that the country continues to make progress in the direction of women's rights and that it does so thanks to this administration and projects such as Ineco's Horizonte Programme.
As part of the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, opened the event to emphasise the company will not take a step back in this fight and has stressed that both victims and associations are not alone.
Spain, a world leader in equality
The minister, in his speech at the closing of the event, pointed out that Spain is a world leader in the defence of equality and in the commitment to remove the obstacles that prevent real equality of opportunities, in a cross-cutting and coordinated manner between ministries. In this sense, he highlighted the value of the transversal policies that are reproduced in all the companies of the Transport group and in the Department itself.
Óscar Puente mentioned as an example, among other actions, the" Puntos Violeta" in the main Renfe stations, which address the issue of women's safety in public spaces, the Matilde Ucelay Awards, for the recognition of projects and people who work for a more feminist world in the sector, as well as the 2030 Strategic Plan for Adif, the State Ports, Renfe and Ineco Equality Plans and the Enaire's participation in the Target Gender Equality Plan.
Eight social grants for this year
Ineco's Horizonte Programme against gender-based violence was launched by the engineering and public consultancy firm in 2020 with the aim of raising awareness of this scourge and accompanying women, their children and orphans who suffer from it in their access to the world of work and education.
With the signing of the agreements, Ineco will double the number of annual social grants for the four associations that form part of the programme by
2024, two for each one. In addition, the training itinerary "‘Vuelta al Empleo’" (Back to Employment) is extended to recover the working life of women victims of gender violence.
Since its implementation, thanks to the measures of the Horizonte Programme, nine women have joined Ineco, another eleven have joined other companies and 32 women have received 360 hours of training given by company volunteers. In addition, the eight social grants awarded to date have been used, for example, to enable the children of abused women to pursue vocational training and university studies.
