Ineco acts as the Programme Executing Unit (UEP) and is responsible for the planning and monitoring of all technical and administrative tasks of the ITP.
As part of Costa Rica's Transport Infrastructure Programme (PIT in Spanish), the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has put into operation the four lanes (two in each direction) of the Cañas - Limonal widening project on Route 1/North Inter-American Highway.
This 20.8-kilometre route, built on rigid pavement, has 7 vehicular bridges, 18 wildlife crossings and 7 pedestrian bridges. It is one of the country's main roads, improving traffic conditions for thousands of local users and tourists travelling to the beaches of Guanacaste. In addition, it is a key section for the freight transport between Central American countries by connecting with the Cañas-Liberia project.
Since 2016, Ineco has acted as Programme Executing Unit (UEP in Spanish), in charge of planning and monitoring all the technical and administrative tasks of the Programme, in close collaboration with the Ministry. This programme aims to modernise Costa Rica's road and port infrastructure, as well as to improve its project management, auditing, and evaluation processes.
Since 2004, our company has been collaborating with the Costa Rican government on projects such as the modernisation plan for the airport network, the National Transport Plan, and the feasibility study for the implementation of a rail transport system in the San José metropolitan area.
