Sergio Vázquez Torrón, president of Ineco, visited the company's teams in Mexico and Costa Rica as part of an institutional visit to the Americas.
Accompanied by Ainhoa Zubieta, International Business General Director, Sergio Vázquez Torrón travelled to Costa Rica to visit the professionals in the country, as well as to meet with the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Luis Amador Jiménez, and the Spanish Ambassador to Costa Rica, Eva Felicia Martínez Sánchez.
Since 2004, Ineco has been collaborating with the Costa Rican government on projects such as the modernisation plan for the airport network, the National Transport Plan and the feasibility study for the implementation of a railway transport system in the San José metropolitan area. Since 2016, Ineco has acted as the Programme Executing Unit and is responsible for the planning, programming, coordination and administrative, technical, legal and environmental management of the Transport Infrastructure Programme (PIT) and the Road Infrastructure and Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships Programme (PIV-APP), in close collaboration with the Ministry. These PIT and PIV-APP programmes, which are financed by the Inter-American Development Bank and the MOPT, aim to increase the country's competitiveness by improving its road and port infrastructure, reduce costs and travel times for people and goods, and increase road safety in Costa Rica.
Subsequently, the president of Ineco visited the company's offices in Mexico City and Guadalajara to meet with the teams in the country. Ineco has extensive experience in Mexico, carrying out projects as important as the Project Management of the Extension of Line 12 of the Mexico City metro, the Shadow Operator of the Tren Maya, as well as various consultancy and design projects at Guadalajara airport, master development programmes and the supervising managing agent for the Guadalajara-Colima road section. Work that has been highlighted in the meeting held with Álvaro Pastor Escribano, economic and commercial advisor at the Spanish Commercial Office in Mexico.
Inecomex, Ineco's subsidiary in Mexico, closed 2022 with positive results, the result of the work carried out by a team of more than 70 people, with multidisciplinary profiles, present in the American country. The €2.6 million profit contributed by the activity in Mexico in 2022, in addition to doubling the previous year's figure, consolidates the company's growth and contribution since its creation in 2011.
