Poland has engaged in a major infrastructure development aimed at improving national and international connectivity by integrating a new hub airport with a new high-speed rail network. This initiative has become one of the largest infrastructure projects in Europe, boosting Poland's economic growth and regional connectivity.
Ineco is advising the Polish public company CPK on the revision of the projects for this high-speed "Y" line, the backbone of the future Polish high-speed system. This project will position the country as a crucial hub in Europe's transport network and its transport corridors, particularly the North Sea-Baltic corridor.
Ineco collaborates with CPK by providing advice in a variety of areas related to high-speed rail: tunnel excavation, acquisition, operation and maintenance of rolling stock, controls during the operation of the line, catenary, signalling and telecommunications, among others.
The "Y" corridor plays a key role in the overall development of the Polish high-speed network. It consists of three core elements of about 480 km: the Warsaw - Łódź line, the central segment for both passengers and freight. Also. the Łódź - Poznań/Wrocław lines, which will facilitate connections to these cities and regional integration by ensuring that smaller cities will benefit from better accessibility to the high-speed system on which trains will reach speeds of 300-320 km/h.
The extensive railway development includes around 2,000 kilometres of new high-speed rail. These lines will drastically reduce travel times and offer a modern and sustainable alternative to current transport options. The railway will serve as a critical component of the national transport network interacting simultaneously with the new CPK airport 37 km from Warsaw, facilitating faster travel and better integration with neighbouring countries and the European Ten-T rail network.

Experience and confidence
Ineco has been involved in the development of Poland's high-speed rail infrastructure since its inception. Taking advantage of the Spanish company's extensive experience in high-speed rail systems worldwide, in 2022, CPK placed its trust in Ineco for the review of the design standards for the future high-speed rail network in Poland. This involved ensuring that the new lines meet the latest international standards in safety, efficiency and sustainability.
Spain has managed to develop the most extensive high-speed network in the European Union with the lowest average construction cost. Moreover, it has done so with very high design and quality parameters, at the forefront of the sector, in relatively quick times and without major budget deviations, as stated in the Ineco report "Efficiency of the Spanish sector in the development of high-speed rail".
A successful model that Poland wanted to import for its new high-speed network, with the help of one of the companies that, in Spain, has made it possible.
