The New ‘Barrio Campamento´, in Madrid, is the largest public initiative urban development project in Spain: it foresees the construction on former military land of at least 10,700 dwellings under the Affordable Housing Plan. The action finally got underway at the end of 2022 with the signing of a collaboration protocol between the Ministries of Defence and Transport (now the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda) for the sale of the land.
SEPES, which in 2023 signed an agreement with Ineco to assist in carrying out the technical work necessary for the development of the project, will be responsible for the development and construction of the homes.

The aim of this action is to reduce the effects of the imbalances in the housing rental market in the city of Madrid, which is particularly strained, and which causes great difficulty in accessing housing due to the shortage of supply and the consequent increase in prices.
The company incorporates its transversal and innovative vision in this key action of urban regeneration and public housing policies. A project that will also achieve other benefits for the citizens, such as improved connectivity, the development of new facilities and services and the contribution to territorial rebalancing.
