The Viaduct of Los Feos
The division of Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla of the Association of Civil Engineers (CICCP) has selected the High-Speed rail link in the province of Almeria as 'Best Andalusian Public Works'.
The works recognised in this award are part of the Murcia-Almeria high-speed Mediterranean Corridor, promoted by ADIF Alta Velocidad. Ineco is in charge of the facultative management of the sections Pulpí-Vera, Los Arejos-Níjar, Níjar-Río Andarax and the integration of the railway in Almería. Routes with outstanding construction solutions such as the Fuente Flores and Viator tunnels, the 1.4 km viaduct over the Andarax River. Also, the three mixed viaducts of Los Feos, Lucainena and Cebollero, with decks built using the launching technique, or the underground cut & cover solution in the integration of Almería, including the new railway station and bus station and a 400-space underground car park.
This award highlights the value of an infrastructure that is a gateway to the Mediterranean Corridor in Andalusia. With nearly 71 kilometres currently under construction, and more than 100 kilometres counting the completed sections, this action makes a strategic infrastructure a reality to connect the productive centres of the province of Almeria (the fruit and vegetable supply and mining) with a distribution line to and from the main logistical nodes that will allow clear economic and social development in the area.
