The workshop "Sobrevivir en la isla" (Surviving on the island) is an educational experience designed for children
Ineco has organised a workshop to encourage children's participation in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) disciplines. This initiative, which was held simultaneously in Madrid, Seville and A Coruña, and broadcast live throughout the company, aimed to raise awareness of the fundamental role of women in science and technology, as well as to inspire future generations.
With more than 300 participants, the workshop "Sobrevivir en la isla" (Surviving on the island) is an educational experience designed for children aged between 4 and 12, who, through a family show, have tackled concepts of gender equality and the importance of science in our society, helping to eliminate psychological barriers and stereotypes about the presence of women in scientific and technological fields.
The event, which began with an introduction on the relevance of science today, highlighted the contributions of two key figures in the history of science: Marie Curie, a pioneer in the study of radioactivity and the first woman to receive a Nobel Prize, and Rosalind Franklin, whose work was essential for the understanding of the structure of DNA.
Afterwards, the children participated in various hands-on experiments and interactive activities designed to awaken their curiosity and creativity, reinforcing the idea that science is an open space for all, regardless of gender.
With this initiative, which was held on the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Ineco reaffirms its commitment to equal opportunities and the promotion of scientific vocations in girls and boys, promoting a more diverse and inclusive future in the fields of science and technology.
