Ineco consolidates its role as a benchmark in innovation and air safety with its participation in the FCA (Flight Centric ATC) project, included in the European innovation and development programme SESAR.
The project has just completed two validation exercises, one of them in Spanish airspace, at the CRIDA research laboratory in Madrid, with the participation of the Spanish partners: Indra, Enaire, Crida and Ineco. Our company's role during this test was to act as an operational safety expert to ensure that the measurements met the appropriate safety criteria. In addition, Ukrainian airspace has also served as a scenario for exercises in this project, and the simulations were successfully carried out by the tandem of the German DLR and the Ukrainian UKSATSE.
The objective is to reorganise the route control sectors in the upper airspace by merging several of them into a larger one, with several air traffic controllers working in it, so that the traffic under the control of these air traffic controllers would be distributed dynamically according to their timely workload and traffic flows.
This European innovation proposal is driven by the SESAR Joint Undertaking and funded by the European Commission, and is included in the European ATM Master Plan. The consortium, coordinated by DLR, also includes 8 companies from different EU countries.
