The Association of Civil Engineers (CICCP) has inaugurated this Friday the course 'Climate Resilient Infrastructures' for the analysis of the challenges and opportunities that climate change poses in the transport sector.

This new line of knowledge was opened with a round table in which experts discussed the evolution of adaptation strategies and the measures needed to strengthen the resilience of infrastructure.

Elena Curto Alonso, Ineco's Climate Change and Energy Transition Manager, took part in this colloquium, where she highlighted the progress made in access to climate information and analysis methodologies. In the speech, she highlighted several key aspects for the future of infrastructures: the importance of diagnosing their vulnerability and identifying critical points in the network. She also highlighted the benefits of including climate change considerations, such as early warning systems and infrastructure sensing, from the design phase onwards. "It is vital to share knowledge and increase training in this field, as we aim to do with this course.

Ineco leads numerous analysis and adaptation projects in railway, road and airport infrastructures. The company has analysed the resilience of more than 50% of the railway infrastructure and in numerous Spanish airports, and actively participates in initiatives such as the National Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change 2021-2030, whose main objective is to avoid or reduce present and future damages derived from climate change.
