The U-Elcome project aims to develop the implementation of U-Space
The Port of Seville has hosted a live demonstration of drones for operational purposes in the health and logistics sector as part of the U-elcome project. Ineco is one of the companies that make up this consortium, made up of 51 partners from seven different countries, which promotes both the regulation and the maturation of new business models related to drone traffic, such as emergencies, surveillance and inspection, rescue of people, delivery of medical material, delivery of goods or transport of people.
Cristina González, Intermodality, Ports and AGE Agencies Account Deputy Director, Francisco Olmedo, Enaire and Airports Account Deputy Director and Marta Gabaldón, manager of the same account, were our representatives at an event that showed how drones can transport essential medical material, such as medicines and supplies, in record time. A use that could be vital in emergency situations, where quick and efficient access to certain products can be the difference between life and death.
The U-Elcome project aims to develop the implementation of U-Space, the EU's programme for the efficient and safe integration of unmanned aircraft into European airspace on a unified, locally regulated platform for air traffic management.
The work on improving standards, regulation and the development of the U-Space system, both in Spain and in Europe, has led Ineco to be one of the founding members of SIAM, the first national cluster dedicated to promoting and boosting this sector. Our company has incorporated the use of drones as another tool for the development of our projects and collaborates with Puertos del Estado and Port Authorities in the introduction of the use of drones in their operations.
