The president of Ineco, Sergio Vázquez Torrón, has met with Sergio Díaz-Granados, executive president of the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), in a key meeting to consolidate the synergies between both entities in favour of the development of sustainable infrastructures in LATAM.

During the meeting, joint initiatives were discussed within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in January 2024, which establishes collaboration to promote the development of the railway sector and the mitigation of the impact of climate change on transport infrastructures. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to promoting projects that integrate advanced technology, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability, and identified collaboration opportunities in countries such as Chile, Colombia, Argentina, and El Salvador, where ambitious railway projects are underway.

History of collaboration and shared vision

Both institutions have agreed on the importance of organising the third edition of the seminar "Diálogos del Ferrocarril", to be held in Spain in autumn 2025. It will be a high-level event focused on the railway sector, with the aim of strengthening alliances between LATAM and Spain. This meeting follows on from the dialogues held in Madrid in June 2023 and in Chile in November 2024.

Ineco and CAF have recently collaborated in BIM training for Development Bank officials, where Ineco's experience in digitisation and modernisation of infrastructures was highlighted. The two organisations have been working together for more than 15 years, when our company carried out key studies on airports in the region and the rehabilitation of railway lines in Argentina.
