The International Road Federation (IRF) has awarded the "Mobility and Urban Routes" prize to the Paseo del Bajo project in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

Ineco, in collaboration with its local partner AC&A, was in charge of the site inspection on section B 'Trinchera semicubierta Sur': a semi-underground four-lane road intended for heavy vehicle traffic. Located between the Puerto Madero neighbourhood and the city centre, the Paseo del Bajo is a seven-kilometre multi-purpose road corridor that has managed to decongest the city's traffic and improve north-south connectivity. This is one of the most important civil works carried out in recent years in Argentina and connects the Buenos Aires-La Plata and Illia highways, as well as creating new green spaces in the lower Buenos Aires area.

IRF President Dimitris Mandalozis said at the award ceremony in Istanbul, Turkey: "These recognise projects and individuals who have risen to the challenges of today's rapidly evolving road sector. Their work advances our mission to develop road networks that enable access and sustainable mobility for all. These winners are setting new standards for innovation and progress in our industry, and we are proud to honour them.

The new Paseo del Bajo urban highway has already received the 2019 "Best Urban Work of the Year Award" at the gala of the Argentinean Road Association.
